Possible cooperation with EU Global Diaspora Facility
Europeans Throughout the World and the European Latvian Association talk about possible cooperation on Diaspora engagement for development with the EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF) implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), in Brussels.
“We consider this to be an important initiative in our efforts to develop an active and coordinated diaspora policy in Europe” says ETTW general secretary general Steen Illeborg.
“Diaspora organizations in Latvia and other European countries have valuable experience which can support the strengthening of diaspora organizations in third countries, including in the Eastern neighbourhood, and to contribute to the development of their countries of origin,” emphasised Elina Pinto, the board chairperson of the European Latvian Association (ELA), at a cooperation meeting with EUDiF.
Cooperation and exchange of information between the ETTW and EU Global Diaspora Facility will continue with a view to shaping a global platform for diaspora cooperation and support in Europe, including to facilitate putting in practice diaspora research findings and to encourage knowledge transfer of individual diaspora capacity building experts.
Further exchange of information and ideas between the ETTW and EUDiF will continue with a view to identifying potential avenues for collaboration with diaspora in Europe, including to put diaspora research findings in practice and to encourage knowledge transfer between capacity development experts.
Diaspora experts and professionals interested in advising colleagues in partner countries are currently invited to register to the EUDiF expert roster (https://diasporafordevelopment.eu/expert-roster-launch/).
